Set-based price updates usually involve two steps: create or confirm the rule that should apply to the set, then run a filtered retail price update for that set. This keeps the change targeted and easier to review.
Use this workflow when a set needs different pricing from the rest of the product line, or when you want to update only one set after TCGplayer data changes.
Before starting
- Rule change needed: Use Retail Rules if this set should price differently from the default behavior.
- Refresh only needed: Use Products if the rule is already correct and the set just needs recalculation.
- Manual locks: Locked products report Price Locked and are skipped by automated pricing.
Create a set-specific rule
- Open Retail Rules.
- Select the product line.
- Click Add Rule Set.
- Name the rule set after the set or pricing exception.
- Add a Set Name criterion. Use the set search option when available, or enter the set name/code expected by the product line.
- Choose the generated price behavior and any advanced source or rounding settings.
- Save the rule.
Rule priority is bottom to top. Place the set-specific rule so it wins over broader rules when the same product could match more than one rule set.
Preview the set
- Search for products from the set in the Retail Rules preview table.
- Confirm the Criteria column shows your set-specific rule.
- Review live price versus generated price.
- Fix any missing finish, missing condition, or missing TCGplayer price messages before running a larger update.
Update the set
- Open Products.
- Select the product line.
- Filter the search to the set.
- Click Actions > Update Retail Prices.
- Monitor the task until it completes.
After updating
- Review any price approvals created by the update.
- Spot-check a few products on the storefront or ecommerce admin.
- If the set has presale products with no TCGplayer market price yet, use manual pricing or locks until market data exists.
